An article has surfaced today from Harvard & MIT regarding new FREE online classes, coming in the fall. I have NOT verified this, but I doubt it is untrue, and feel it is worth checking out!
"Today's announcement brings the possibility of transformation through education to the world. edX gives Harvard and MIT an unprecedented opportunity to dramatically extend our collective reach by conducting groundbreaking research into effective education and by extending online access to quality higher education."

A good source of continuing education, and skills improvement is online classes. Accessible from anywhere you can use your computer, and you set your hours. One such class provider is an extension of LA Harbor College, Ed2Go. I have personally taken one of their courses and really like it. I printed out info, text or documents from the class either by screen shots or copy & paste.
Most courses are 6 weeks, with assignments each week and an exam at the end. You are usually able to “chat” with others enrolled in the class you are participating in, and you can communicate with the instructor.
Certificates of completion provided at the end of the course. Typical fees are $95.00
Areas of study include: Accounting and Finance, Business, College Readiness, Computer Applications, Design and Composition, Health Care and Medical, Language and Arts, Law and Legal, Personal Development, Teaching and Education.
Sample titles of classes available: Digital Photography, Computer Skills (Word, Excel etc), Web Design, Spanish for Medical Professionals, Accounting Fundamentals, QuickBooks, Vet Assistant and MANY more.
Note – online classes, because they have flexible hours, can be taken while you are collecting Unemployment Compensation. You do not need to check the “yes” box regarding training. I checked with our local workforce center.
