Once the final out was recorded, it was time to rejoice for the small school from San Pedro, California. In its first year competing in the CIF-Los Angeles City Section playoffs, the Port Of Los Angeles High softball team claimed their, and the school's, first City Section title with a 2-0 win over Northridge Academy in the Small Schools Division finals at Birmingham High in Lake Balboa. Wednesday, May 25, 2011 will forever be known as the day the Polar Bears got its first City championship trophy in any sport.
