The Journal of Commerce is reporting that the LA-Long Beach Ports Plan Expansion and "move aggressively to protect market share as economy recovers."
The journal reports that the port of Los Angeles is expanding its China Shipping and TraPac container terminals and says expansion projects to follow will most likely be the APL facility, Yang Ming Marine Transportation and Yusen Terminals.
"The ports learned during the economic recession the importance of operating more efficiently and keeping costs reasonable, and they are now 'more circumspect' in dealing with fees and other issues that affect competitiveness," Geraldine Knatz, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles told the Journal of Commerce.
