WOODLAND HILLS - It's the kind of dream game most high school baseball players wish for to happen, and most pro baseball players sometimes have happen.
On this day, it happened to San Pedro High baseball senior Richard Samudio.
In his first at-bat, Samudio hit the first home run of his career... and then it would become a recurring theme the rest of the day as Samudio would belt three more home runs, including a grand slam, for an unbelievable four-home run game to power the visiting Pirates to a 24-7 victory over Taft of Woodland Hills in a San Fernando Tiger Classic Tournament pool play game.
Samudio's display was just the tip of the iceberg, as San Pedro (13-5 overall) hit seven home runs on the day. Michael Samperio hit his third home run this week after clubbing a home run in both Marine League victories against Gardena earlier in the week, while Dru Chavez and Arron Scognamillo also clubbed homers for the Pirates.
Two of Samudio's home runs came in during a nine-run seventh inning to emphatically put the game away for San Pedro, who begins a crucial two-game Marine League series with Narbonne of Harbor City on Wednesday.
