LOS ANGELES - Another game, another blowout for San Pedro High boys basketball.
Although they didn't quite reach 100 points in consecutive days, the Pirates still put up a fat total as they routed Bravo Medical Magnet, 90-41 in a Belmont Tournament pool play game at Sotomayor High in Los Angeles. The full-court pressure defense wreaked havoc again as they forced 28 turnovers.
James Fish led the way for San Pedro (3-0) with 20 points, Khalil Dave added 14 points, five assists and four steals, while Zach Foster and Michael Garcia each added 11 points the Pirates, who got two electrifying slam dunks during the fourth quarter from senior guard Elijah Gaines.
It was a close first quarter with the Pirates only holding a 16-15 advantage, but the defense would eventually wear down and wear out Bravo as Fish canned a three-pointer at the buzzer to put the Pirates up 43-26 at halftime, Fish's third three-pointer of the day. From there, the Pirates would take control and win going away with a running clock midway through the fourth quarter after Gaines' 'And-1' slam dunk.
San Pedro will next face Venice at the Roybal Learning Center in another pool play game later today.
