I hope someday, someone who wants to start a business in downtown San Pedro, does a craft store. Sure we have Crafted coming soon, but we need a craft store! It doesn't have to be a chain store like JoAnn's or a Michael's. And I know we have (still?) a hobby store, but we gals & the kids want a craft store! We have SO many empty storefronts on 6th street lately, for example.

Or maybe someone at Crafted at the Port of L.A. can set this up??? MANY of us, including the Facebook group San Pedro Crafters, would prefer to buy local instead of always going into Torrrance or Long Beach or buying on the internet.

I can tell you from personal experience, that like home repair and home remodeling, making your own clothes and costumes, jewelry, toys etc appears to be BIG business. Go into any craft store in the South Bay, and check out the lines. Specially around the holidays.

And I know many stay at home moms, people looking for part time work and retirees, who would LOVE to work in a craft store close to home.

We want to support our community! How about it folks?

Update-5/16/2012 - I have heard now that we do have one store, "Our Creations". Glad to hear it! I will check that out, but I think they carry art supplies or wedding supplies. What I would like to see is beads, jewelry supplies, silk flowers, feathers, craft paints, fabric, sewing & ceramic supplies etc. (Items not just related to weddings).
