GARDENA - The San Pedro High baseball and softball teams both opened off Marine League play at Gardena right next to each other on separate fields, and both debuts produced short-lived, dominant victories.

Samperio finished 4-for-5 with five RBIs and four runs scored for San Pedro (11-5 overall, 1-0 league), who also got a two-run home run from Jonathan Gonzalez. The Pirates will host Gardena on Friday at the RBI Field in Compton.
