LeBron James made a surprise visit to the Boys and Girls Club of San Pedro on July 25, 2011. His Foundation donated $120,000 to the club.
LeBron James' Q rating placed him in the top five most popular athletes in America before his decision to leave the Cavaliers and "take his talents to Miami. Since the one-hour ESPN special to inform the world of his decision, James' "brand" has suffered a sharp decline among basketball fans and sports aficionados.
San Pedro looked like Disneyland or Magic Mountain on Wednesday and Thursday as traffic filled up the Harbor freeway and Harbor Blvd., as thousands of visitors waited in upwards of three to four hours board and tour the USS Abraham Lincoln.

The 64th annual Mary Star of the Sea Fiesta kicked off Friday night and will continue until 11:00pm on Sunday, July 17. San Pedro's First Thursday Art Walk on June 2, 2011 featured for the first time popular food trucks that brought with them many food fans to downtown. The Grilled Cheese Truck had the longest line where people waited up to thirty minutes to get their sandwich. The Lobster Truck got the best reviews. Also featured were the Nom Nom Truck and Me So Hungry Truck. Most people said they would love to see the trucks back every First Thursday.
