Phillips 66 "flaring" a non-emergency in Harbor Area

Many of you may have seen the large black plume of smoke coming out of the Harbor Area today. The source was the Phillips 66 refinery in Wilmington where a non-emergency flaring operation was conducted following a loss of power to the plant. The LAFD said no response was required from them.

CSU Dominguez Hills Records Another Strong Fundraising Year

California State University, Dominguez Hills posted the fifth straight year of steady fundraising growth, with $4.12 million raised for the university through corporate, foundation and individual giving and pledges in fiscal year 2011-12.

Residents - I know most of you know this, but some of our friends and relatives need to be reminded!  There is a slow return of door to door magazine sales and contractors pitching their "wares".

A Good Jog

Over the years I have found that San Pedro has many places that are very eye catching and pleasing. These are really good places for people to get pumped and do a nice workout. Places like the area between Point Fermin and the White Point Nature Preserve offer so much inspiration for a beginning jogger like myself.
