Were there permits issued for the function; probably not.  Did the organizers provide clean up of the park afterwards?  Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t.  I don’t know the real answers to any of these questions.

So what…

Re-Engineering Policing

Bob Dylan wrote The Times They Are a-Changin’ back in 1964 and the inevitable trend still continues today. Fast-forward to the troubling times of 2015 and community policing policies are being quickly revised to meet the new and more dangerous threat of domestic and international terrorism.

Entire police departments like the 34,000 uniformed men and women of the NYPD are being completely retrained on the…

Lend a #HelpingHand

What it means to lend a “Helping Hand.” Typically when asked for a favor by a close friend or family member, the word “Yes” escapes our mouths before the daunting question of “How? What? When? Where? And Why?” However when a charity or non-profit asks, it seem that most people try to prolong and avoid an answer; but why? Some may see it as an inconvenience,…

A Generation Lost

I don't know when we lost America, but we did. Maybe it was the 70's.

Back in the 60's there was still a real zeal and a passionate burning feeling about America by Americans for America. We were still proud and were willing to stand up against unjust wars and corporate greed.

Many felt so strongly they burned their draft cards and defected to Canada. There were more thing's gone wrong in the 60's and more people willing to die for their…

Weekend Navigator Class

(LONG BEACH --- Nov. 9) --- The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is set to begin a Weekend Navigator class Dec. 3 in Los Alamitos.

"Most people depend blindly on GPS," said USCG Aux. instructor Doug Conwell, who's scheduled to teach the class, "and, if you haven't kept your position on a paper chart, you're lost (if the GPS fails)."

The nine-week course will teach how to plot courses, use latitude and longitude on a chart, take compass bearings, on-chart measuring,…
