Friday, November 26, 2010 will forever be known to San Pedro and Venice High football fans as: "The Pepper Spray Incident".
A simple postgame handshake gone terribly wrong when trash talking between the two schools ensued,…

As Crafted's vendor Honey and Ollie just posted, Crafted will now be allowing FREE PARKING!
If you have one of the special parking permits issued recently, hang on to it - when Crafted has a special event where they STILL charge for parking, you will be able to get in FREE.
I think this is a good move by Crafted. Personally, I have thought that charging at Crafted was not in their best interest. I feel this should help, specially with the Holiday season upon us.

Rain or shine, the Craft Faire this Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church on Western, will be open for business. If necessary, we'll be in the gym and there should be signs pointing to it!!!

I drove by the house where it happened, just around the corner from where I live in San Pedro, not knowing what I was looking for. I don't know if I just wanted to be drenched in more sadness. Or if I just was looking for his kids, who are really adults now, but to me they are still kids.…

As the San Pedro High football team found out in 2011, rematches in the CIF-Los Angeles City Section playoffs don't usually favor the team that comes out on top the first time around.
Not much would stop the Pirates here…

"Neighborhood Watchers!
Recently we have had a serious trend of Burglary for Motor Vehicles in the area of Bynner and Western. Unfortunately these are the kind of thefts where our Lock it or Lose it program is not as effective. In the course of one night thieves targeted five separate vehicles and stole their Catalytic Converters off the bottom of the vehicles. Targeted vehicles are Toyotas; in this most recent rash of thefts the vehicles targeted were 1 Toyota…

Here's revised text of a great little picture posted on FaceBook, promoting the idea of how to help our local business people this holiday season.
*******************
HERE'S AN IDEA: Let's buy Christmas (and other Holiday) presents from small local businesses, and self-employed people.
For example, from your neighbor who sells online, the local crafts person who makes jewelry, the girl who is a stunning florist.
The local gift store, your friend who runs a shop, the…

The Mary Star High football team suffered mightily through a dreadful 0-10 season in 2011, but thanks to winning four out of their last five games to close out 2012, the Stars can now reap the rewards of a CIF-Southern Section playoff spot.…

The San Pedro High football team has gone through the rigors of the 2012 regular season. Now they're after higher stakes and you can't get any higher than the CIF-Los Angeles City Section playoffs.
With rival Narbonne of…

Most of us have been very supportive of Crafted, and do want to see it thrive.
Many new craft vendors have come on board and more sign up often.
But I am also aware of a turnover coming starting at the end of November. Actually, many changes have already started. Some of our favorites will be leaving and sadly, before the holiday shopping is in full swing. I'm hearing the guess of close…

San Pedro High football wasn't even considered a threat during their struggles in the 1970's and most of the 1980's until Mike Walsh became the head coach of the Pirates in 1991.
Then everything changed after…

The Los Angeles Conservancy is excited to come to San Pedro on Sunday, November 11 to explore the YWCA designed by Julia Morgan in 1918!
California’s first licensed female architect, Julia Morgan is often recognized for her work on high-profile landmarks such as Hearst Castle and the Herald-Examiner Building. Yet she also extensively worked with the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), for whom she designed more than thirty buildings. It is appropriate that Morgan, who made…

October 30, 2012, SAN PEDRO, Calif. – In an undercover investigation by local news station NBC 4, San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant was revealed to be only one of two seafood purveyors in the sample studied to accurately label the fish they sell. The investigation was conducted in response to a letter of complaint sent by more than 500 chefs, 83 from California, to the federal government demanding proper labeling of seafood.
“This is just another…

I have had a hell of a day. When not on the sailboat in San Pedro with my betrothed, we live in the mountains about an hour east of downtown L.A. It is a nice spread on a hill with the constant sound of serenity from the babbling creek running through the property and if you can't be on the water, there is no better place to be. Considering our proximity to L.A., it is pretty amazing to be living among relatively pristine nature in 2012. But as with all things, particularly the ocean, there…
ContinueThere are many Neighborhood Watch pages for San Pedro on Facebook, thanks in the most part to Councilman Joe Buscaino.
I am taking an interest in all of this, so I want to share a "summary" of sorts of what problems I see reported, that we need to watch for!
One of the most frequent problems in San Pedro: people attempting to get in, ask for something, selling something, borrowing something, looking around, and we've seen so many variations of this. We have to start…
