Unfortunately, on this site & in our paper, I have seen several thefts (from grocery stores) and car break-ins from vehicles just in a few blocks from Western to Mermaid, along 25th street in the last week.…

Second Sunday of Lent: Gn 22:1-2, 9a, 10-13, 15-18; Rom 8:31b-34; Mk 9:2-10
It is always a great joy to witness the pride and hope on the faces of parents as they bring their children to the Church to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. A number of times parents have even brought their parents to the parish on their way home from the hospital. They are always filled with great hopes and dreams for their children, aspirations that they will be healthy, happy and… Continue

This is what many of us are writing and warning people about. One group caught doesn't mean we're rid of this!
".....gang members are suspected of breaking into at least 18 Torrance houses....."
Thanks to Larry Altman for the Tweet!

Sr Lead Officer Wight, for lower San Pedro, has been in contact with members of local Neighborhood Watch groups. (Contact Officer Wight for photos recently obtained of one of the individuals in question).

This isn't news to anyone, unless you've been under a rock. It's on every media channel, and in every paper.
Here's one of many sites where you can check for the most current prices at stations per zip code you select.
Concerns in the Middle East, California refinery closures, and oh by the way, summer is not too far off.
This will effect the… Continue

First Sunday of Lent: Gn 9:8-15; 1 Pt 3:18-22; Mk 1:12-15
The Sunday readings for lent begin with God's Covenant with Noah and his sons after the great flood where it rained for forty days and forty nights. The following are some good points that we can learn from Noah: Don't miss the boat. Don't forget that we're all in the same boat. Plan ahead, it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark. Stay fit, when you're 600 years old, someone might ask you… Continue

The annual HOA matters were taken care of between approximately 6:30pm and 7:00 pm.
Afterwards a Deputy Engineer for the city gave a brief summary of the status of the slide on Paseo Del Mar. They are still monitoring the slide and adjoining area. The rep was asked by a homeowner just what "options" there might be for repairing the damaged area, but no answer is available yet. Many homeowners felt that the city will just go with the cheapest option, which is nothing. The group… Continue

My neighbor had a visitor over the weekend, who left his car unlocked. With his laptop and check book in sight. Needless to say it only took a couple of minutes for someone to come by and take them. 30 minutes later the thief was already attempting to cash one of his checks for a hefty amount!
*NOTE* - the "victim" says he is pretty sure this was a young female (as he saw a female near his car) and that the thief is a smoker,… Continue

I don't want to ban skateboarding in the San Pedro streets. We are raising… Continue

The reported “Frisbee Ban” is actually a misunderstanding, somehow perpetuated by social media, news sources etc… It appears that the intended rule or change to rules, was to allow officials/lifeguards etc, to designate areas at any given time for Frisbee tossing and other sports, based upon conditions at the beach.
The Daily Breeze has the corrected information in their paper today and on their website.

Being concerned about our kids skateboarding, and wondering what the rules & laws are for drivers, I asked an LAPD Sr. Lead Officer, for our area, to offer her insight. (Please be mindful that a driver should NEVER leave the scene of an accident, even if the driver is not at fault. I believe that is a serious violation of the law.) - MB
“As far as what protections the driver's have if they hit a skateboarder, it is of course always dependent on the nature of… Continue
